The Kremlin said Ukraine needs to take “one step” to end the war

To end the war unleashed by Russia, Ukraine must take “one step,” said Yuri Ushakov, assistant to illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, on May 7. The quote is provided by Interfax.

There is supposedly no point in the next round of negotiations between Ukraine, the United States and the Russian Federation to end the war, since further progress Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Donbass, the Kremlin representative insists.

“Everyone understands, including, I would say, the Ukrainian negotiators, that now Kyiv only needs to take one serious step, after which, firstly, military actions will cease, and, secondly, prospects will open for a serious discussion of the prospects for a further long-term settlement,” he said, answering a question about the prospects for resuming negotiations.

According to Ushakov, now “this step is expected from Kyiv, in particular from [президента Владимира] Zelensky”.
