Jamestown, one of the most influential conservative media in the USA, specializing in security issues, published Tamerlan Vagabov's article about the management crisis in the Ministry of Defense and the Defense Procurement Agency – “The Ukrainian defense industry is at risk of collapse.”
Institutional weakness, lack of coherence in the defense industry and bulk procurement with a shortage of components and manpower for in-house production pose a serious threat to defense capability. Paralysis of production, procurement, inefficient budget management harms the image of Ukraine as a partner of the USA and other allied states.
The author of the material is Tamerlan Vagabov, ex-director of the Anti-Terrorist Center of the General Secretariat of Interpol (Lyon, France), former head of the Office of Reforms of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, held positions in Ukroboronprom and the Ministry of Defense, a graduate of the Higher School of the US Naval Forces and Georgetown University.
