Many people consider spathiphyllum to be an unpretentious plant, but in practice, “female happiness” likes to be capricious. When the leaves fade, flowering disappears, and growth slows down, the simplest remedies, such as used tea bags, can save the situation.
Why does spathiphyllum not bloom?
Spathiphyllum roots stop absorbing microelements if the plant lacks light or nutrition. This is where regular tea comes to the rescue. It slightly acidifies the soil, makes it loose and contains nitrogen.
It is important to use only natural bags without fragrances and without metal staples.
How to use spathiphyllum tea
There are two working ways:
- when replanting: place one used bag on the bottom of the pot on top of the drainage, then fill it with soil;
- without replanting: mix dry tea leaves from 1-2 bags with the top layer of soil.
Water as usual. The substances will be supplied gradually, without the risk of overfeeding, reports the Garden Fantasies channel (18+).
A couple of tips for results
Don't expect miracles from the tea bags alone, as the tea is a supplement. Spathiphyllum needs diffused light, a warm room and moderate watering without stagnant water. Use this method every 3-4 weeks in spring and summer. Then the leaves will become brighter, and the plant will come to life and bloom.
