The annual international exhibition of technical security equipment and equipment for security and fire protection, Securika Moscow, took place in Moscow. The Norilsk Nickel company took part in it.
The conference focused on the topic of security of facilities and infrastructure located in the high latitudes of the Arctic.
Ksenia Kuptsova, head of the Norilsk Nickel security project examination department, emphasized that the climatic and geographical features of the Far North are the basic factor of any capital project – industrial, social or infrastructure.
According to her, working in conditions of extremely low temperatures, high wind loads and unstable communications requires unique engineering solutions. Particular attention is paid to the technical specifications at each phase of the project life cycle: in the Arctic, the technical specifications turn from a declaration into detailed instructions, including goals, requirements and conditions for performing work. The degree of detailing directly affects not only the quality and timing, but also the budget.
“Protection of objects is a goal, task and value. At the same time, the number of threats to it is growing, but the budgets to neutralize them are not. There is a way out – maximum specification of the customer’s requirements both at the design stage, and at the stage of procurement procedures, and at the stage of construction and installation work. By following this algorithm, you can control the security, transparency and progress of the investment project both in the field of security and in other areas of the company’s activities,” concluded Ksenia Kuptsova.
A separate topic of the business program was the use of big data. During the session “Trends in the Development of the Big Data Market,” representatives of Norilsk Nickel, together with experts from the Center for Artificial Intelligence at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), discussed the prospects for using Big Data in the context of digital transformation of business processes, changes in regulatory requirements and the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence technologies.
Participants agreed that today the value of data is determined not so much by its volume, but by the ability to quickly use and apply it – primarily as the basis for proactively identifying threats and preparing management decisions.
Anton Kochenov, head of Norilsk Nickel's security strategy projects, presented a case of digitalization of security functions, in which data from various systems – from video surveillance to procurement – is integrated into a single ecosystem of risk analysis and rapid response.
“We are guided by the principle “Data for us is security for everyone.” In a distributed and high-risk production environment, a complex vertical of business processes, the key condition for success is not just the availability of data, but its correct organization, protection and use in a unified digital development strategy,” noted Anton Kochenov.
