You log in somewhere, and inevitably the moment comes when you have to come up with a password that contains a capital letter, a symbol, a number, maybe a hieroglyph, and probably the name of your first pet if possible. The reality is that passwords have become a kind of internet background noise; they are often annoying, repetitive and not even very safe.
Although we've been using them for decades already, passwords have never been a great solution. We reuse them, simplify them to remember them, or save them in questionable places. In tomorrow's Good Tech newsletter we talk about passkeys, an alternative that is not only more secure, but also simpler.
