Fortifications on the border with Transnistria. Kiev is preparing “a rapid response capability to any threat”
The Ukrainian army is building fortifications near the border with the Republic of Moldova on the Transnistrian segment due to potential risks and the presence of a Russian military contingent in the region, according to RBC-Ukraina, which cites the “West” operational command of the Ukrainian forces, Deschide.md portal reports.
The head of the Ukrainian troop group “West”, Brigadier General Vladimir Shvediuk, made a working visit to the border area with Transnistria, where he talked with commanders of different levels, checked the degree of readiness of the units, their equipment and the state of the defense lines.
The Ukrainian military authorities are planning to establish a staggered defense system in this area, which will allow quick reactions to possible challenges or threats from the Transnistrian region, reports Agerpres.
“One of the main tasks remains the significant strengthening of the defense capabilities of the southwestern border and the creation of the necessary conditions for improving the mobility and logistical support of the troops. This will allow the construction of a staggered defense system, capable of promptly responding to any provocation or manifestation of aggression”, declared the representatives of the “West” operational command.
“Strengthening the border defense lines represents a complex response to the existing risks and a rapid reaction capacity to any threat”, stressed the Ukrainian military officials.
The units of the Ukrainian defense forces are also involved in the development of the national resistance training system of the population in the region.
At the same time, the commander of the group of troops “West” had meetings with representatives of local medical institutions to check the level of preparation of the health infrastructure in the event of providing assistance to the military.
