Convicted Krasnoyarsk ex-deputy Gliskov released a book with advice for prisoners

4 May 14:01
The famous Krasnoyarsk politician and lawyer Alexander Gliskov, sentenced to 10 years in prison in a bribery case, was released “The Prisoner's Handbook: From Arrest to Sentence.”
The book contains simple legal and everyday advice: how to work with a lawyer so that it is beneficial; what documents you can and should write yourself; what to do and how to eat, being confined within four walls almost 24/7. It is noted that the book will be useful not only to those who find themselves under investigation, but also to their relatives and friends, as well as aspiring lawyers and human rights activists.
The annotation from the author indicates that he wrote the 380-page work in pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Krasnoyarsk:
“I’m sharing my unique experience when I was first a lawyer for 14 years, then a politician, and ended up being a defendant. There are many collections of speeches by lawyers and reference books for lawyers (20 years ago I myself was the author of one of them). But I have never seen a “handbook” for a defendant or an arrested person. Now he is in front of you. The legal part is supplemented with everyday advice on what to do with time in a pre-trial detention center, what to read, a set of proven culinary recipes and tips on basic survival. I tried to make this book useful for those who are in prison, and for their lawyers, relatives, and friends.”
Let us remind you that Alexander Gliskov was detained in Krasnoyarsk on November 1, 2023 on suspicion of corruption crime. The investigation believed that in 2017, as a deputy of the Legislative Assembly and using his official powers, he received 1 million rubles for stopping criticism of KraiDEO, which was engaged in road repairs. Gliskov himself denied everything and called his case political. IN In October 2024, the Central District Court found him guilty under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and imposed a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment in a maximum security colony. However, in February 2026, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court overturned the verdict and returned the case to the prosecutor. Gliskov was immediately released from custody, and a preventive measure in the form of house arrest was applied to him until May 24, 2026.
