Steaua and FCSB have been fighting an identity war for years, and the “military” broke open the champagne after seeing that the Champions League trophy was deleted from the Super League club's right from a certain column on the UEFA website.

What changes have appeared on the UEFA website

There have been many changes on the UEFA website, but also a lot of confusion. FCSB no longer has the European Champions Cup from 1985-1986, as it was before.

Going a little further down, it can be seen that in the chapter “the best scorers in the club's history” there are names that played in Ghencea before Gigi Becali took over the team in 2003. The list includes names such as Marius Lăcătuș, Gabi Balint or Victor Pițurcă, but also Nicolae Dică or Nicolae Stanciu, who played for Bucharest after Becali took over the team.

In the “teams” column, the trophy appears next to those from FCSB. The Romanian champion is also on the list of teams that won the trophy.

However, it also appears on the website that FCSB played in the League in only two seasons: 2024-2025, the previous one, and 2017-2018. In both, the people of Bucharest stopped before reaching the groups. In the “seasons” section, the logo of the team that triumphed in 1986 is missing. After clicking on that season, you can see that the team that defeated Barcelona in 1986 is called Steaua București, without any logo.

Contacted by GSP.ro, Florin Talpan celebrated a possible victory

GSP.ro contacted Florin Talpan, the lawyer of the club from Ghencea, and she said she was pleased with what happened and asked again to be appointed general.

“I have notified UEFA countless times. FCSB has never won the European Champions Cup. FCSB was not and will never be Steaua. It is a club founded in 2003. I won the Steaua Bucharest brand, the Steaua Bucharest name and the record of the Steaua Bucharest football team. If I didn't fight, everything would stay at Becali.

The Ministry of National Defense must recognize my notable achievements and give me what I deserve as a matter of urgency.

It was not easy for me to fight with Becali and the corrupt generals in the Ministry of National Defense who, countless times, only hindered me. If some have become generals without having my achievements, it is imperative that the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense urgently advance me to the rank of General and give me the position I deserve.

My achievements are notable. The Steaua brand, the Steaua name and the track record remained in the heritage of the Ministry of National Defense thanks to my work.

Gigi Becali, about what happened on the UEFA website: “It's a hack”

Gigi Becali said he should have been notified by UEFA in the event of such a change and believes it was a hacker attack.

“I have no idea. He tells them that they can't claim records after 2000. We're no longer the winner of the Champions Cup? What can we do? This is Romania. Well, they deleted it. But they can't even register it. If they're not there either, then nobody should have the Champions Cup. That's how it is in Romania. Why should we have this in Romania? It's not good, don't you see? I'm angry too, but I can't help it.

I have now spoken to the lawyers. I didn't get anything. I think it is a “hacking”. There is no such thing. At UEFA, the successor is taken into account. It is true that we are not called the Star, but we are the continuations. And if we are the continuers, we are the holders. Another thing is that we change the name, another is the track record. The record is held by the successors.
