An important politician from Germany surprised the declaration. I want to withdraw benefits for Ukrainians

– It is necessary to ensure that there are no benefits for all those who came from Ukraine – said the leader of CSU and Prime Minister of Bavaria. In his opinion, such regulation would apply “not only those who come in the future and everyone.”
Söder added that he wants to push it in a coalition. He said that there is no “country in the world”, which in the case of refugees from Ukraine and social benefits would act like Germany. According to the CSU leader, this is one of the reasons why in Germany “so few people from Ukraine have a job, even though they have a good education.”
In 2024, Germany paid civic benefits for a total amount of EUR 22.2 billion. The costs related to the beneficiaries of benefits from Ukraine amounted to EUR 6.3 billion.
Söder's declaration goes beyond the agreement contained in the coalition agreement between CDU, CSU and SPD. The border date provided for in the agreement is April 1 this year. All who come to Germany from Ukraine after this date should receive only lower benefits for people applying for asylum, not civic allowance. People who came to Germany earlier should still receive an allowance for citizens in accordance with the agreement. However, there are no relevant regulations yet. So far, newly arrived Ukrainians also receive an allowance.
