Krasnoyarsk residents were reminded how often they need to be examined for tuberculosis

On World Tuberculosis Day, which is celebrated on March 24, specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor reminded of the need to regularly undergo examinations to detect this disease.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease. The incubation period can last from 3 months to several years. This disease spreads when the pathogen enters the air from tuberculosis patients, for example, when coughing. The pathogen usually affects the lungs, but can also affect other organs – kidneys, spine, joints, brain, etc.
Tuberculosis can be asymptomatic or with minimal symptoms and is detected by chance. Some forms of tuberculosis, especially in advanced cases, can lead to disability or an unfavorable outcome.
Regular screening for tuberculosis ensures early detection of the disease:
- Mantoux test or Diaskintest is performed annually for children under 14 years of age;
- fluorographic examination of the chest organs (at least once a year) is carried out for adolescents and adults.
Experts recalled that timely detection of tuberculosis makes it possible to begin effective treatment in the early stages of the disease and prevent its spread.
