The incident took place on Saturday, May 2, in Valea Coștelei in the Bucegi Mountains, an area known for its difficult trails and the high risks associated with off-piste skiing.
According to the information sent by Salvamont Romania, four people were trapped under the snow.
The intervention teams act against the clock to locate the victims. Mountain rescuers from Salvamont Prahova have mobilized important resources, including dogs specially trained to find people buried under the snow.
The operation is also supported from the air, a helicopter being used for the rapid transport of teams in the hard-to-reach area, but also for possible medical evacuations. The intervention is a complex one, carried out in difficult conditions, on a steep terrain and with the risk of new avalanches.
Valea Coșteila is frequented by skiing and mountaineering enthusiasts, but specialists constantly warn of the dangers in these areas, especially during periods when the snow cover becomes unstable due to snowfall or temperature variations.
At this time, the rescue mission is in full swing, and the authorities continue the search to identify all the people caught in the avalanche.
