May weekend is most often… a house party. The data speaks plainly

This year's May holiday is exceptionally short, which is why many Poles chose to relax close to home or go on shorter trips. Every fourth respondent (26%) planned at least one night away from home, but the largest group declares that they will spend this time locally. At the same time, 31 percent respondents at the time of the survey (in March 2026) did not yet know how they would use the long weekend – reports Rankomat.pl.
Among people who had specific plans, the most popular way to spend the May weekend is quiet time with family and loved ones (31%).. The next places were a barbecue with friends (26%) and active recreation, such as cycling, running or walking (23%).

Among people planning a trip, mountains and lakes received the most votes – 15% each. 13% went to the seaside. respondents, and 8 percent was planning a foreign city break. The same number of respondents said they would spend the May weekend at work.

Rankomat.pl's research shows that this year's May weekend is rather sparse. 22 percent respondents did not plan any additional expenses. 17 percent intends to spend up to PLN 200, and 19 percent provided a budget of PLN 201 to PLN 500. This means that a total of 36 percent Poles want to limit their May Day expenses to PLN 500.
A smaller group of respondents declare higher budgets: 17 percent. planned to spend from PLN 501 to PLN 1,000, 8 percent — from PLN 1,001 to PLN 2,000, 5 percent — from PLN 2,001 to PLN 4,000, and 4 percent Poles assumed expenses exceeding PLN 1,000. zloty.
