President Donald Trump is considering reducing the number of US troops in Spain and Italy. He spoke about this on April 30 during a conversation with reporters at the White House, which was broadcast by the White House on YouTube.
When asked about the likelihood of troop reductions in Italy and Spain, Trump replied:
“Yes, it's possible. It probably will be. Why not? Italy didn't help us at all, and Spain behaved terribly. Absolutely terribly,” he said.
The head of the White House added that these countries “do not support the United States at all.”
“We helped them [странам НАТО] with Ukraine. They created a complete mess in Ukraine, real chaos, and we are helping them. Ukraine, you know, has no direct relation to us – there is an ocean between us. This concerns them, for them it is like their own threshold. But we help them,” the US President added.
Trump also again criticized German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
“You'd think they'd say, 'We'd be happy to help you.' I mean, he [Мерц] does a terrible job,” Trump added of Merz.
On April 27, in an interview with n-tv, the head of the German government criticized the US war in the Middle East, saying that Washington has no strategy in action against Iran. The next day, Trump said that Merz “doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” and later threatened to reduce the American military contingent in Germany.
