The 414th separate brigade of unmanned systems “Birds of Madyar” on May 1 hit four Su-57 and Su-34 aircraft at the Shagol airfield in Chelyabinsk of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, at a distance of 1.7 thousand km from the state border of Ukraine. The commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Robert Brovdi (Madyar), spoke about this.
According to him, as a result of satellite additional reconnaissance, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed the hit of at least three weapons of deep destruction with varying degrees of damage to such aircraft:
- two Su-57 fighters;
- one Su-34 fighter-bomber;
- one Su of unknown modification.
In addition, the satellite image shows the remains of a destroyed aircraft maintenance vehicle, which was placed between the Su-57 aircraft. After the strike, the affected aircraft were moved to other, closed parts of the airfield.
As Brovdi noted, the defeat of the Su-34 multi-role fighter-bombers and fifth-generation Su-57 fighters is critical to reducing the enemy’s strike potential.
The Su-34, as the main strike platform, is capable of carrying a wide range of guided bombs and missiles, striking critical infrastructure, military installations and civilian targets from a distance of up to 1 thousand km.
The Su-57, as Russia's most modern fighter with low-observability technologies, poses a particular threat to aviation and air defense systems.
The estimated price of one Su-34 is $35–50 million, Su-57 is $100–120 million per unit.
