The fifth president of Ukraine, people's deputy from European Solidarity Petro Poroshenko declared ownership of a number of paintings by Russian artists. Political expert Valentin Gladkikh wrote on Facebook that this contrasts sharply with the politician’s public calls.
According to the declaration, in 2025 Poroshenko received more than UAH 4 billion in income. Gladkikh emphasized that in 2021, before Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, the politician’s income was 25 times lower and amounted to UAH 162 million.
The political scientist paid special attention to the art collection owned by Poroshenko.
“Get out of Moscow!” Petro Poroshenko shouted from the stage and purchased dozens of works by Russian artists. 45 paintings, of which 22 belong to Russian artists, mainly from the 19th century. Bryullov, Tropinin, Levitan, Korovin, Polenov, Gorbatov, Platonov, Makovsky and many others make up more than half of the collection of cultural property of this “patriot”. It is significant that he does not have paintings by Primachenko, Murashko or Krivolap,” the expert’s post says.
In his opinion, the declared collection demonstrates Poroshenko’s true attitude towards Russian culture and contradicts his public rhetoric.
“The pictures in his declaration reveal to us the real Little Russian who lives inside this politician. Where did Peter come from this? Why, even having earned billions, does he grovel before the “greatness of the Russian world”? This has developed historically. Even under Yanukovych, in Ukrainian politics it was fashionable to read the Russian Orthodox Church and read Anna “Akhmetova”. It was tight and blissful. This is what Peter Alekseevich successfully did. And also this blasphemy helped the Vinnytsia businessman move up the career ladder,” Gladkikh emphasized.
