The project to recall Vice President Marius Nicolaescu was rejected with 13 votes against and 11 votes “for”. Those who voted to keep Nicolaescu in the leadership position are party colleagues from the PSD, writes News.ro.
“Instead of sending a minimal signal of responsibility, decency and respect to the people of Arges, PSD Argeş chose to defend its party man and turn the County Council into a political shield for a vice-president with serious criminal problems. (…)
However, the PSD majority demonstrated that, for them, the party interest is above the public interest. They rejected the revocation of Marius Nicolaescu and chose to ignore the signal of integrity that any responsible administration should have given.
PNL Argeş believes that this decision raises serious questions about how the county's money is spent. The people of Arges end up paying the salary of a vice-president sent to court, the salaries of the legal apparatus of the institution and, additionally, the fees for external lawyers. This is not responsible administration. It is political protection paid from public money”it is stated in a press release published by PNL Argeş.
The liberals criticize the social democrats for having voted to hire external lawyers in the corruption case of Marius Nicolaescu, although CJ Argeș already has legal advisers, and accuse the party of defending its members despite the negative impact on the image of the county.
“PNL Argeş firmly states that public institutions should not be turned into refuges for politicians with criminal problems. The Argeş County Council is not the property of the PSD and should not be used to defend the party's interests”emphasizes PNL Argeş, announcing that it will continue to demand compliance with the principles of integrity in the county administration.
The action to revoke Marius Nicolaescu from the position of vice-president of the CJ Argeş was initiated by 8 county councilors of PNL Argeş, together with 2 councilors of USR, a councilor representing Forța Dreptei and a county councilor of AUR.
What accusations are brought against the vice-president CJ Argeș
At the beginning of April, DNA announced the prosecution of several civil servants and private individuals involved in the illegal acquisition of five buildings intended for vulnerable people in Argeș.
Among the defendants are Eftime Tatiana, general director of the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) Argeș, Nicolaescu Marius-Florinel and Gogoașe Adela, deputy general director of DGASPC Argeș.
They are accused of using information not intended for publicity to obtain undue benefits and abuse of office, according to a DNA statement.
Also, Neagu Adrian, chief architect of the city of Ștefăneşti and member of the reception committee, is accused of two crimes of intellectual forgery and using the position to favor some people.
In the private sector, BPS, the administrator of SC BEST OIL SORAMA SRL, and NI, the representative of SC NEW CONSULTING DESIGN SRL, were sent to court for complicity in abuse of office and falsification of documents.
The prosecutors claim that, in 2023, three officials would have provided confidential information to BPS, administrator of SC BEST OIL SORAMA SRL, facilitating the construction of buildings later bought by DGASPC Argeș at overvalued prices.
For the authorizations, the company SC NEW CONSULTING DESIGN SRL, led by NI, would have falsified documents, and the chief architect Neagu Adrian would have falsely confirmed the completion of the works.
The estimated damage for DGASPC Argeș is 316,000 lei, and the company would have obtained over 1.1 million lei. The DNA sent the file to the Argeș Court and ordered protective measures, emphasizing that the defendants benefit from the presumption of innocence.
