The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) published a note “Bon voyage, athletes!” about the first open individual championship in athletic gymnastics (0+) for the prize of the Council of Physical Education of the Birobidzhanstroy trust.
“… by decision of the USSR Sports Committee, a commission on athletic gymnastics was created at the Weightlifting Federation. In 1981, the Moscow Championship in this sport was held…”. In 1982, in Birobidzhan they decided to also support the athletes and held athletic gymnastics competitions for the first time.

In our city, many athletes are also keen on athletic gymnastics, and good results were shown at the first competitions. Athletes competed in the quadathlon – bench press, overhead press, biceps curl, deadlift.
The winners and runners-up were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts by the Physical Education Council of the Birobidzhanstroy Trust.

The newspaper “Birobidzhanskaya Zvezda” published an article by V. Matveev that in the sanatorium “Pearl of Khingan” there was a seminar of teachers and educators and cultural education for workers of health resorts of the Khabarovsk Territorial Resort Administration on the topic “On further improvement of the educational, educational and cultural work of health resorts in the light of the requirements of the February (1988) Plenum of the CPSU Central Committee.
In the article “Seminar in the “Pearl of Khingan,” the author notes that during the seminar, an exchange of experience in improving the use of club institutions in working with children and vacationers took place.
“…Demonstration events were held: “For you, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and Labor”, “Welcome” …”.
Lectures “Perestroika and the ideological struggle”, “Problems of educational work in health resorts”, “Culture of clothing in everyday and business life” were given by the head of the lecture group of the regional committee of the CPSU D. I. Vaiserman, the head of the department of the Khabarovsk State Pedagogical Institute, candidate of pedagogical sciences A. M. Pechenyuk, art critic of the Khabarovsk House of Models T. G. Galyutina.
The seminar participants met with the Khabarovsk composer M. Zhuravlev.”

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” published a note by A. Plisko, a member of the regional branch of the All-Union Society of Philatelists, “Philately is a hobby” that a reporting and election meeting of the regional branch of the All-Union Society of Philatelists was held in Birobidzhan.
“The chairman of the board, A.M. Zavodchik, made a report. He noted the increased activity of the members of the VOF branch. They organized two thematic exhibitions of postage stamps.
Some work has been done to increase the personal collections of society members. Birobidzhan philatelists, with the assistance of the regional branch of the All-Russian Federation, received stamps from previous years, as well as collectors.
A club of young philatelists has been organized and operates, headed by L. K. Aronchik. He generously shares his knowledge and experience in collecting postage stamps with the children, helping them correctly and skillfully collect philatelic material.”
