The first exhibition of paintings by a veteran of the Great Patriotic War and an honorary citizen of the city, Stepan Grandovsky, opened in Krasnoyarsk. Mayor Sergei Vereshchagin congratulated the artist on his creative debut.

“Stepan Antonovich is a self-taught artist: from the age of 15 he drew with a pencil, then with paints. Often using handy materials. The first canvas was a primed sheet. The exhibition “Dedicated to the Authors of Victory” is about the generation of Winners. It presents paintings by Krasnoyarsk front-line artists, 9 of which are paintings by Stepan Antonovich. I am grateful to the Romanov Art Gallery for supporting this project. Let’s wish Stepan Antonovich good health and inspiration for new paintings,” Sergei Vereshchagin wrote on his account.

The agreement to organize the exhibition appeared back in March, when Stepan Grandovsky celebrated his 101st birthday. Sergei Vereshchagin expressed hope that young Krasnoyarsk residents would visit it. Stepan Grandovsky was also given new paints and brushes. As the mayor noted, they will be useful to the veteran for new jobs.
