In Krasnoyarsk, a man who stole a Toyota Camry using a repeater and smart key programmer will appear in court.
The prosecutor's office said that the man and his friend decided to steal the car. On a popular classifieds service, the attackers found a car that the owner wanted to sell for a million rubles, and looked at it a couple of times.
“While one was distracting with a conversation about the technical details of the car, the second was secretly analyzing the signals from the alarm key fob,” explained the prosecutor’s office.
At night, the men arrived at the parking lot. One went up to the entrance to intercept the radio signal from the apartment, the second opened the car door and started the engine.
The Camry was driven to Mariinsk – 6 hours along the highway, with license plates replaced and messages exchanged about the safety of the operation. The accomplices left the car in the parking lot, asking a random passerby to “keep an eye.”
Law enforcement officers managed to uncover the theft. The car was returned to the owner. The attackers managed to steal tools and accessories worth 19 thousand rubles from it.
The regional prosecutor's office charged the 39-year-old hijacker with theft (clause “b”, part 4, article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Taking into account his previous convictions, he faces up to 10 years in prison. The criminal case will be considered by the Sovetsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk. The criminal case against the initiator of the abduction was suspended due to the conclusion of a contract for military service.
