Ukraine will not allow Russia to sell oil to Europe – Zelensky

The video was published on YouTube by the OP.

According to Zelensky, Ukrainians will not allow Russians to continue making money from the energy sector.

“We cannot give the Russians the opportunity to make money from this, from energy – and even where they twist our arms because of certain contracts, obligations, etc. – we will still find a way out so that there is no Russian oil in Europe,” said the Ukrainian president.

Zelensky positively noted the US interest in this issue.

“But we, as a country that is under Russian aggression, are definitely interested in this,” the president emphasized. “We will not allow the Russians to sell oil there. Questions of time, questions of our positions.”

Context

Among EU countries, Hungary and Slovakia (which are landlocked) still buy Russian oil. On October 20, the EU Council supported a complete rejection of oil and gas from the Russian Federation, but these two countries were against.

The US Treasury imposed sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil on October 22, explaining that the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin refuses to end the war in Ukraine, which the Americans called “senseless.” US President Donald Trump expressed hope that this would encourage Putin to negotiate.

On October 30, Bloomberg reported that supplies of Russian petroleum products had fallen to their lowest level since the beginning of 2022.

According to Zelensky, Orban, at a meeting at the White House with Trump on November 7, will look for an opportunity for Budapest to “have a special treatment” after the introduction of American sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Over the past months, Ukraine has carried out drone strikes on oil and gas facilities (oil refineries, oil depots and gas terminals) of the Russian Federation.
