Bolojan, about the fact that Nicușor Dan did not publicly support him: “Mr. President's decisions are taken by him”

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said Monday evening, on Digi24, that he could not say whether the president could have done more to avoid the current political crisis. The head of state has consistently avoided saying he supports him, citing his role as a mediator in the coalition conflict.
“We had a good collaboration throughout this period. I believe that in order to be able to do what is right for the country, in its external representation, internally, there must be a collaboration between the president and the prime minister,” said Bolojan, when asked if he had a partner in Nicușor Dan.
Asked if he would have expected the president to publicly defend him, Bolojan said: “Mr. President's decisions and he chooses them. When I accepted the position I knew it was not an easy situation. I tried to carry out this mandate with dignity. That's what I'm doing.”
However, the prime minister also commented on the role of mediator assumed by the president: “The intention to mediate is correct, but logic and common sense work in certain conditions. In others, they don't.”
Nicusor Dan avoids saying whether he still supports him
President Nicușor Dan also avoided saying today, in an intervention on Digi FM, whether he still supports Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan or not.
“At this moment, there is a political fracture between the two sides of a coalition that I would have liked to have worked. In this sense, I cannot pronounce,” said the head of state.
“For months I have been discussing with one and the other, UDMR, USR, and I have noticed that the tension is increasing. We are in a moment where there is a somewhat irreconcilable position between two parties, I must be a mediator. (…) By the fact that including today from 10.00 that discussion is taking place, in a civilized way, Romanians should have confidence that we are going in the right direction”, answered Nicușor Dan, when asked if he still supports Ilie Bolojan in the position of prime minister.
