The head of the faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in the Russian State Duma, Gennady Zyuganov, said that in the absence of urgent financial and economic measures, Russia could face a crisis comparable to the events of 1917 in the fall. He was quoted by Euronews on April 23.
Speaking on April 21 in the State Duma, he noted that the current economic situation in the country, in his assessment, is deteriorating, and the first quarter of 2026 “has sunk to the bottom.” According to Zyuganov, if the authorities do not take the necessary steps, this could lead to serious social and political tension.
“If you don’t urgently take financial, economic and other measures, then in the fall what happened in 1917 will await us. We have no right to repeat this,” said the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
During his speech, Zyuganov also mentioned the recent appeal of blogger Victoria Boni, whom he called “the lady from Monaco,” to the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, saying that the problems raised in it (flooding in Dagestan, livestock slaughter and blocking the Internet) had previously been voiced by his party, but did not receive a reaction.
After a public outcry, the official transcript of the speech clarified that it was about the events of the February Revolution of 1917. The video recording and transcript also contain a clarification that they were referring specifically to the February events that led to the overthrow of the monarchy and a change in the political system in Russia.
The channel recalled that the February Revolution of 1917 led to the overthrow of the monarchy and the creation of the Provisional Government and the Soviets of Workers' and Soldiers' Deputies. The October Revolution of the same year overthrew the Provisional Government, brought the Bolsheviks to power and established Soviet power.
