The first batch of the new generation Lynx infantry fighting vehicle will arrive in Ukraine early this year – Rheinmetall

The corresponding contract was signed in December 2025.

The cost of the order for the first five infantry fighting vehicles is several tens of millions of euros, with funding for the systems provided by Germany.

The decision was made after thorough testing of the new generation combat infantry fighting vehicle. The infantry vehicles will be equipped with a two-seat Lance turret and will be specially configured for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“The next step is the purchase of additional quantities, including production in Ukraine,” the company said.

The Lynx KF41, thanks to its intelligent weight concept, efficient drive system and modern safety features, combines mobility with a high level of safety. The car was first presented in 2016. It has a modular design and can be equipped with different weapons.

Context

The first vehicle of this type was delivered to Ukraine in December 2024.

Rheinmetall is one of the largest defense concerns in Europe, supplying Ukraine with various ammunition and military equipment. In particular, he is transferring Leopard tanks, Marder infantry fighting vehicles and SurveilSPIRE reconnaissance systems to Ukraine.

In June 2024, the first workshop for the repair and production of armored vehicles was opened in western Ukraine. In the same month, Ukraine and Rheinmetall signed a memorandum on expanding strategic cooperation; as part of the new agreements, it is planned to produce artillery ammunition and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles in Ukraine, the concern reported.

In July of the same year, Rheinmetall officially announced that it had received an order to build an ammunition plant in Ukraine. According to the plans, production is going to start “within 24 months,” that is, no later than July 2026. In the future, as stated by Rheinmetall, Ukraine may also begin production of tanks and air defense systems.
