In the village Leninsky, on the 110th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Lenin, a historical and party museum was opened, which later became the Leninsky District Historical Museum.

A small hall was set aside for the museum in the House of Culture. The first exhibits were about the revolution, the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars. Valuable exhibits were handed over from the V.I. Lenin Museum in Moscow – the originals of the Iskra newspaper and one of Lenin’s letters. The initiator of its creation was Pyotr Kudisch, then the third secretary of the Lenin district party committee.

The first director of the museum was Natalya Kiryukhina. The leading designer of the party historical museum was Boris Viktorovich Kosvintsev.

The entrance to the museum is crowned with a bust of Mikhail Semenovich Korsakov, Governor-General of Eastern Siberia in 1862-1871. The village of Mikhailo-Semenovskaya (now the village of Leninskoye) was named in his honor.

Today, the regional historical museum of the village of Leninskoye contains various exhibits telling about the settlement of the Amur region, the formation of Soviet power, collectivization, and repressions. The museum stores photographs and letters of those who fell on the battlefields, shell fragments, helmets, and weapon parts. Many exhibits also remind us of the war with Japan on Chinese soil. In addition, the museum has accumulated many important documents, certificates, and photographs about the history of the Leninsky district.

In the early 2000s, the Lenin Historical Museum moved to a new building and became municipal with a permanent staff.

The museum hosts excursions, lessons on various topics, lectures are given in groups, and meetings with interesting people take place.

The Leninsky District Historical Museum was awarded the Badge of Honor “For active work in the patriotic education of citizens of the Russian Federation.”

The 5th plenum of the regional committee of the CPSU took place in Birobidzhan. At the plenum, the tasks of the regional party organization were determined to further improve the efficiency of political work in labor collectives in the light of the requirements of the XXVI Congress of the CPSU. It was noted that party organizations in the region had accumulated some positive experience in comprehensively resolving issues of communist education of workers, ensuring the unity of organizational, political and economic activities, mobilizing labor collectives for the successful implementation of state plans and socialist obligations.

Workers are widely disseminating the materials of the 26th Congress of the CPSU, the decisions of the November (1981) Plenum of the CPSU Central Committee, and the resolution of the CPSU Central Committee “On the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.”

There are more than 400 lecture halls, film lecture halls, and 58 public universities in the region. In 1981, more than 16 thousand lectures were given. However, ideological work does not fully meet the requirements of the 26th Congress of the CPSU; it often lacks specificity and close connection with life. The Plenum obliged Party committees and primary party organizations to increase the level and effectiveness of all ideological work in labor collectives.

The “Museum of Contemporary Art of the Jewish Autonomous Region” opened in Birobidzhan as a branch of the Far Eastern Art Museum (Khabarovsk). The initiator of its creation was the creative community of the regional center.

Since July 1996, the museum has become independent, retaining the name “Museum of Contemporary Art of the Jewish Autonomous Region.” The organizer and permanent director of the museum is Boris Yurievich Kosvintsev. The museum consists of a collections department, an exhibition department and a cultural and educational department and is a cultural, research and scientific educational institution.

Since its opening, the museum has been building a collection of paintings by artists from the Jewish Autonomous Region.

In addition to storing and studying works of art, the team of the Museum of Modern Art carries out extensive exhibition work.

Thematic exhibitions are organized. In addition to the opportunity to participate in opening days, the museum gives everyone the right to exhibit personally.

In recent years, the museum has introduced the practice of creating digital versions of exhibitions and thematic discs based on the museum collection. This practice is intended to create equal conditions of access to the cultural heritage of the region for both residents of Birobidzhan and residents of the region’s districts.
