Sorin Grindeanu announces the PSD plans, before the consultations from Cotroceni: “Probably we will reach a first picture”

PSD President Sorin Grindeanu on Tuesday welcomed the announcement of President Nicușor Dan's consultations with the parties that form the governing coalition. According to Grindeanu, during the consultations, he will tell Nicușor Dan that the social democrats no longer support Ilie Bolojan, but they want to continue in a pro-European coalition, if possible.

“Our vote yesterday was a clear one, one without doubts. If we want the Social Democratic Party to be part of a governing coalition, with pro-European parties, then we no longer support Ilie Bolojan as prime minister. Or the Social Democratic Party goes into opposition,” said the president of RRA, Sorin Grindeanu, quoted by News.ro.

He specified that “there are majorities in the Romanian Parliament even without PSD”.

“We have, if we also take the redistributions, somewhere around 27-28% of the number of parliamentarians. That's what the PSD has. If they still want us in this coalition and a majority is formed where PSD also wants to be, we have this condition. If not, they are free to make other majorities”, said Grindeanu.

“In 45 days, Bolojan must test his new coalition”

Regarding Wednesday's consultations in Cotroceni, Grindeanu said that they are a necessary step.

Grindeanu also said that, in 45 days, if Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan does not resign and there is no censure motion that has passed through Parliament, “he must come to Parliament to test his new coalition without PSD”.

“Following these consultations in Cotroceni, a first picture will probably be reached. Each of the parties will come and say what their vision is. After that, if a solution is not reached or is not found that is accepted by these parties, then the Social Democratic Party, as I announced, withdraws its representatives from the government. Which means that we have a government that no longer has a majority in Parliament, which translates into a minority government,” he said Grindeanu.

“This is not the first time this has happened. In 45 days, as it was in the past, several times, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, if he does not resign and there is no motion of censure, in this interval, which has passed through the Parliament, he must come to test his new coalition, which is without PSD. If that coalition or this government formula will have a majority, the government will continue. If not, the government is considered to have failed”, he also said Grindeanu.
