50 years after she obtained the first Olympic 10 in the history of gymnastics, Nadia Comăneci was awarded by the famous Laureus organization with the trophy for her entire activity.
Visibly emotional, Nadia spoke about how the results obtained at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 changed her life.
“When I had to compete in parallel bars, I didn't feel so insecure. Thank you very much for the award. Especially coming from you, who saved me. I'd say it's the anniversary of five perfect 10s, because 50 years seems so far away. I was just a little girl following her passion. 17 seconds of my life at the Olympics changed everythingNadia said.
In Romania, the year of Nadia Comăneci is celebrated. Magnate Ion Țiriac is making a room for Nadia, and the Presidency would award her the Star of Romania, the most important distinction offered by the Romanian state.
