Orlen reported on heat prices. “We have submitted a tariff application”

When the situation is normal and there are no sudden fluctuations in gas supply due to, for example, military operations, the price in Europe fluctuates between EUR 15 and EUR 25 per MWh. It was heading towards this range in December last year. Unfortunately, subsequent events, mainly the attack on Iran, resulted in an escalation of prices. On March 19, it was even above EUR 70, and currently just below EUR 40.
This affects an increasing part of the heat price in Poland. We still heat mainly from coal, but this will change. The role of gas is growing. And this one is expensive. Orlen announced what it intends to do about it.
“Already We have submitted a tariff application for the 2026-2027 season […] and I can say that there are no upward movements. We do not expect the tariff to increase in the coming years,” Gajewski told journalists.
Secured gas supplies
He explained that at the time of submitting the tariff application to the Energy Regulatory Office the company has already secured gas supplies for the period covered by the tariff.
In 2025, natural gas accounted for 24.8 percent. in the structure of fuels used to generate heat in the company's plants in Warsaw.
Warsaw's heat and power plants and heating plants owned by Orlen Termika produce 11%. all heat generated in Poland. It already reaches 70 percent. residents of Warsaw and 60 percent residents of towns near Warsaw: Pruszków, Piastów and Michałowice. The company also has plants in Przemyśl and Silesia.
Orlen and its subsidiaries are a multi-energy concern that has refineries in Poland, the Czech Republic and Lithuania and a network of car fuel stations, including in Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria.
