VIDEO A Russian and a Ukrainian stole over 15,000 euros from a priest in Teleorman. Where they were caught

A priest from Teleorman was left without his purse in which he had 60,000 lei, 3,800 dollars and 400 euros, after being the target of a theft in a Bucharest hypermarket. The priest says he had this money to buy food for needy people.

The theft suspects are a 56-year-old Ukrainian citizen and a 52-year-old Russian accomplice. The Ukrainian took advantage of a moment of the priest's inattention to steal the purse, and was then waited for outside by the Russian man, who was in a car ready to leave, according to Digi 24 and Antena 3 CNN.

In total, they fled with 15,388 euros and entered the A1 highway by car. Immediately after the deed, the Ukrainian citizen would have shaved his beard and changed his clothes in order not to be recognized, an aspect considered to be an indication of premeditation, the quoted source added.

The two men were monitored in traffic and intercepted by the police on the A1, at kilometer 289, in the direction of Deva. The investigators suspect that they intended to leave Romania.

The purse was found abandoned in a vegetated area near the highway, where the suspects allegedly dumped it to make it difficult to identify the goods. The entire damage was recovered and returned to the priest, the Capital Police reported.

The men were detained for 24 hours and will be presented to the magistrates. The investigations are continued by the policemen of Section 21, under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of District 6, under the aspect of committing the crimes of theft and concealment.
