Vygovsky denied inflated estimates of the number of law enforcement officers widespread in the public space.
“Some correspondents and individual media outlets give different figures – sometimes 400 thousand, sometimes 200. There is no such number of police officers. I want to point this out right away. And you know very well the functionality and the burden that additionally fell on the police during the war,” he said.
According to Vygovsky, out of more than 100 thousand police officers, approximately 25 thousand are women, and another 13.5 thousand are young officers under the age of 25 who are not subject to mobilization.
Approximately 9 thousand law enforcement officers constantly carry out combat missions at the front, and more than 30 thousand work in territories close to the combat zone, the law enforcement officer noted.
Separately, he commented on the situation in Kyiv, where two police officers left civilians, including a child, at the scene of the terrorist attack. Vygovsky called this incident unfortunate and emphasized that personnel decisions are already being made based on its results.
“The materials we will collect [в ходе служебного расследования]we will send it to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). But still, it is not entirely correct and correct to draw conclusions based on the actions of these two police officers about the entire National Police system,” added Vyhovsky.
