Massacre in Louisiana. Eight children were killed by a man who opened fire on them

Eight children were killed on Sunday morning in an armed incident in Shreveport, in the US state of Louisiana, the local police announced on Sunday, dpa reports, according to Agerpres.

The victims ranged in age from one year to 14, police spokesman Chris Bordelon said, based on preliminary findings.

Shortly after 6:00 a.m. (11:00 GMT), a domestic dispute escalated, during which an adult male opened fire, Bordelon said.

The perpetrator is believed to have acted alone. Two other people were injured.

The suspect fled the scene and was later fatally shot by police following a pursuit.

Police have not released any information about that person, but Bordelon told NBC that some of the children killed “were his offspring,” according to Reuters.

Shreveport, located in northwest Louisiana, is close to the Texas border. It is the third most populous city in the state, after New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
