Fritz, harsh message to PSD, before deciding whether to govern with Bolojan: “You hope to take advantage of the chaos. Let everything be like in the time of Ciucă and Ciolacu”
USR President Dominic Fritz on Sunday accused the Social Democratic Party of preparing “a political crisis” to return to power, a day before the Social Democratic Party decides whether to withdraw political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
“Now you want to change the prime minister a year before the agreed deadline. Why? Certainly not for the Romanians,” wrote Fritz, in a post on Facebook.
“You claim to leave the government to protect poor people. By triggering a political crisis, you will impoverish the country even more. We lose 10 billion euros from PNRR. The deficit and interest rates will explode. Everything will become more expensive. Jobs will disappear. You are making power plays on the backs of the people you say you are protecting. What cruel hypocrisy,” Fritz continued.
Fritz accused the Social Democrats of hoping to take advantage of the chaos to return to “buttons”.
“You hope to take advantage of the chaos. To trigger the political crisis, to return to unhindered buttons and everything will be as before, as in the time of Ciucă and Ciolacu”, wrote Fritz.
“USR will defend with all its might this government that has begun to reform the state and turn off the faucets,” the USR leader also said.
PSD votes on Monday if it still governs with Bolojan
The Social Democratic Party announced that it will decide on Monday, by vote, whether or not to maintain its political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.
The internal consultation, called the “Moment of Truth”, widely popularized on Facebook, will take place at the Parliament Palace, from 17:00.
PSD leaders expect the vote to be overwhelmingly in favor of withdrawing Bolojan's support. In this scenario, PSD will wait for Bolojan's resignation until Thursday, when there is a Government meeting. However, he announced that he would not take this step.
Parallel meetings at PNL and USR
In the context of the consultation announced in PSD, PNL and USR decided to organize “coordination” meetings on Monday. The PNL meeting will take place from 18:00, in Modrogan, and the USR meeting will take place at 18:30, at Vila Lac, according to HotNews sources.
The two parties decided three weeks ago that they will no longer form a government alliance with the PSD in the event that the social democrats trigger a political crisis.
Otherwise, the social democrats are considering the withdrawal of the ministers from the Government, not the secretaries of state, to force the prime minister to ask for a vote of confidence in the Parliament.
