Cosmin Dur-Bozoancă, the goalkeeper from Oțelul Galați, spoke about the financial problems of the Moldovans, after his team beat UTA Aradscore 1-0, in the fifth round of the Superliga play-out.
Oțelul has quite big financial problems, and the goalkeeper of Galaţi admitted that today he received the rest of his salary for the month of January. He said what makes the players ambitious to give everything to keep the team in the Super League. He and his colleagues fear that in the event of a relegation they will remain unpaid.
Cosmin Dur-Bozoancă, after Oțelul Galați – UTA Arad: “We knew that if we didn't save the team, goodbye money”
“We, in the winter, were thinking about the play-offs. In fact, we weren't just thinking, we were so confident that we could get there that we got into a situation where we couldn't find ourselves. After these poor results… we also lost players and had no stability.
I received a salary today, for the month of January, and we are promised that, from next week, we will also be paid for February. When you have no money and no results, there are things that press you. At least we managed to get three points.
It was not a case of boycott. I knew if we didn't save the team, goodbye money. Because if this team relegates, I don't know if bankruptcy follows, but things would not be good at all. We have to keep the team in League 1, because that's the only way we can get money.
It's sad. There are so many foreign players, I'm also thinking: to come from Portugal and not receive the money… I trust that things will be resolved”, said Cosmin Dur-Bozoancă, to Prima Sport.
