The International Robotics Championship started in Krasnoyarsk

17 April 20:32

Krasnoyarsk has become the center of a large-scale engineering and technical event – the International Robotics Championship. The mayor's office said that as part of the competition, more than 500 teams of young designers from 37 regions of Russia, as well as Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, India, China and a number of African countries will present their developments to the jury.

Children and youth from 4 to 24 years old – the winners of the regional qualifying championships will compete in 16 areas of varying difficulty over three days. Teams are improving their skills in modeling, programming and controlling robots to perform tasks at the test site, and developing autonomous robots using 3D printing technologies. The main theme of the championship is improving road infrastructure and hydropower.

The Pixel team from Krasnoyarsk has developed a device for clearing road signs of snow, which can facilitate the work of city services. Another Endemics team from Irkutsk will present an autonomous mobile platform with all-wheel drive capable of inspecting the condition of a hydroelectric power station’s water pipeline. For the first time, the innovative sport of drone football is presented on the site, combining the skills of piloting, robotics and tactical interaction.

“The main task is to develop engineering skills in children and maintain technological sovereignty, so that children from an early age can study technical areas, create robots and enroll their work in universities, putting their ideas into practice. We hope that after the championship we will collect a catalog of the best projects that will further develop in Krasnoyarsk, strengthen the design activities and production part of the region,” says Maxim Turushev, director of the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization Robotics Laboratory “Engineers of the Future”.

The event includes not only competitions, but is also a celebration of scientific and technical creativity; the program includes interactive locations with VR and IT technologies, master classes, photo zones, and games.

The championship is organized by the Krasnoyarsk non-profit organization “Robotics Laboratory “Engineers of the Future” together with the administration of Krasnoyarsk. This year, the event is supported by the regional ministries of culture, education, sports, digital development and the agency for youth policy and implementation of social development programs of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. “In parallel with the competition program, we have a business program, where current specialists and experts gathered at round tables to discuss key issues of developing engineering and technical creativity among children, adolescents and young people, strengthening the educational base in schools and universities, training qualified engineering and technical personnel, as well as long-term prospects for the development of robotics. As part of our championship, we are thinking through the structure and mechanism for its implementation,” noted Yulia Gafarova, head of the project management department of the department of the head of the city of Krasnoyarsk.

Anyone can become part of a large-scale event and immerse themselves in the world of robotics from April 17 to 19; admission is free for residents and guests of the city. Venue: International Exhibition Center “Siberia” from 10:00 to 18:00 (Aviatorov St., 19).

Winners in various competitive areas will receive valuable prizes and the right to participate in international competitions.
