Romania, beyond the borders, a territory still undiscovered

As every year, Romania is present at the festival through an extensive program organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris and the National Book Center, in partnership with the Embassy of Romania in Paris, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in France and the Consulate General of Romania in Paris. Under the motto “Roumanie, par-delà les frontières | A territoire toujours a découvrir“/ “Romania, beyond borders | A territory yet to be discovered” the national stand (NC32) becomes a living space for meetings between authors and the public.

“Romania's presence at the Paris Book Fair is a substantial combination of the excellence of our cultural diplomacy agenda and the support of Romania's economic and entrepreneurial dimension in the international environment. With a far-reaching program, our stand marks a contemporary success through which Romanian literature finds an extraordinary echo in France, being at the same time a sign of a renewed tradition, a living bridge in time, between two cultures whose spiritual kinship is deep and enriched with each generation” – Ioana Bivolaru, Romanian Ambassador to France

“Vorbitorinci has been a house for books ever since the podcast appeared. We have a permanent book section, and the most important Romanian writers have been invited to us. I often live with the impression that this podcast has its structure related to books. We tell what we read, we see reading as a great value and as an important social pillar. It seems natural to me, therefore, to make an episode from one of the biggest book fairs in the world. And, of course, our guests are the great voices of Romanian literature or writers who have found their inspiration in Romania. And, yes, for those who have watched Vorbitorincii, it is normal for these books to be told over a glass of wine. For this, I thank Jidvei for supporting the reading, but also for preserving the world we love.” – Cătălin Striblea

In the center of this European cultural context, Jidvei brings the SPIRIT collection: a tribute to the Romanian spirit and creativity, a gesture through which wine becomes a cultural language, a signature, a landmark. SPIRIT is not just a collection of premium wines, it is a tribute to the Romanian identity, anchored in the heart of Transylvania, on a land that has been bearing vines for over eight centuries.

SPIRIT Jidvei collection: SPIRIT Fetească Regală, SPIRIT Chardonnay and SPIRIT Rose

The collection brings together wines carefully matured in old oak barrels, handcrafted by local artisans, with labels bearing local symbols “stitched together”, inspired by the natural wealth and cultural heritage of the land. The grapes are hand-picked from the Târnavel valleys, where the morning mist creates a unique microclimate, favoring slow ripening and preserving the freshness typical of the Jidvei terroir.

SPIRIT Royal Maiden, SPIRIT Chardonnay and SPIRIT redness form a family of wines with a distinct character and international recognition. Each bottle tells the same story: Transylvania can sit with dignity at the same table with the great wines of the world.

A Romanian brand cannot exist outside the culture from which it was born. Every cultural event at which Jidvei is present is proof that Romania has something to say and that it deserves to be heard.

For Jidvei, to be present at Paris Book Festival it is part of our identity. We believe that a Romanian brand that has reached the stages of Europe also has the responsibility to open doors for the culture from which it was born. Literature, wine, music, art, all speak of the same Romania. We choose to be where stories that matter are told. I've learned over the years that wine and culture have something essential in common: both need time, patience and people to believe in them before the world discovers them.” – Ana Necșulescu, Director of Jidvei Communication
