On April 17, on the platform of the Krasnoyarsk station, we welcomed the 20 millionth passenger since the launch of the City Electric Train project.
The owner of the lucky ticket, Maria Vasilyeva, who arrived with her daughter Yesenia from the Divnogorsk station, was congratulated by the head of the Krasnoyarsk Railway, Alexey Tumanin.
“Today you became the 20 millionth passenger of Krasnoyarsk city trains. This is a significant event for us. If 12 years ago, when we were just starting, we carried an average of 700 thousand passengers per year on electric trains, now it is already 2.5 million passengers. I am very glad that you use railway transport – the safest, most reliable, accurate and all-weather. Thank you for choosing us!” said Alexey Tumanin.
He presented Maria Vasilyeva with an anniversary passenger certificate and a gift – this came as a complete surprise to her. Maria said that she has been regularly using electric trains for 10 years.
The City Electric Train project started in Krasnoyarsk in 2014, when, as part of a cooperation agreement between Russian Railways, the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Krasnoyarsk administration, it became part of the public transport system. In 2016, the Divnogorsk direction was included in it.
In recent years, railway workers have built and reconstructed 25 stopping points, which has increased the transport accessibility of new microdistricts of Krasnoyarsk. Thus, in close proximity to the new buildings, passenger platforms Vodopyanova, Belye Rosy, Tikhie Zori, Platinum Arena, Severnoe Shosse, and Kalinina were built. The track infrastructure has changed: the freight line from the Bugach station to the Krasnoyarsk-Severny station became a passenger line, and the railway track on the line to Divnogorsk was modernized.
“For the Krasprigorod company, the 20 millionth passenger of the City Electric Train is the main result of the project that we are implementing jointly with the authorities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Krasnoyarsk became the second city in Russia after Moscow, where electric trains entered the public transport system and confirmed their demand. The length of the railway route within the city is 73 km, while the electric train significantly reduces travel time compared to any transport. The result of the great work done by the railway workers was an increase in city passenger traffic by more than 3 times,” said Larisa Baikalova, General Director of Krasprigorod JSC.
Comfortable electric trains work not only as urban transport. They deliver Krasnoyarsk residents and guests to unique objects of the capital of the Krasnoyarsk Territory – to the museum complex of V.P. Astafiev, to the Stolby Nature Reserve, to the Roev Ruchey Park, contributing to the development of domestic tourism.
Currently, more than 60% of KrasRussian Railways electric trains running along the routes of the Krasnoyarsk agglomeration are new generation machines. In 2026, another modern modification of the electric train is expected to arrive. Krasnoyarsk railway workers also plan to renovate the city’s largest station, Bugach, where a new station will appear in the future.
