Something bad is happening to the Atlantic. Alarming reports from scientists

Sea currents like the AMOC (Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation), which is the main relay belt of warm water to the North Atlantic, are the foundation on which our planet's climate is based. What is even more disturbing is the new findings of scientists, according to which AMOC is not only weakening, but may even completely disappear.

According to the latest research, there is 90% a chance that as a result of human activity, which disturbs the delicate balance between salinity and temperature of this sea current, by the end of the century, AMOC will weaken by as much as 50%.. Worse still, this century we may cross the point of no return, after which it will be impossible to stop this process and it will end with AMOC simply disappearing.

Disastrous consequences

If AMOC actually ended its activities, we would face very serious consequences. Even if it weakens, it will have very serious consequences. Especially in the Nordic countries, where the temperature would drop significantly, while in other parts of the Earth the temperature could increase even further, causing unpredictable weather phenomena.

Scientists add that changes in the functioning of the AMOC current may even threaten agriculture in north-western Europe, and its complete disappearance would also be felt in other regions of the Earth, e.g. raising the water level on the coast of North America or causing even greater droughts in Africa.
