Alex Manninger, the former international who played for Arsenal and Juventus, has died aged 48 in an accident

Alex Manninger, a former Austria national football goalkeeper who played for Arsenal FC and a number of well-known Italian clubs, died in a car accident on Thursday at the age of 48, Reuters reports.
The daily Kronen Zeitung and other Austrian newspapers reported that Manninger's vehicle was hit by a passenger train at a barrier-free crossing near the city of Salzburg.
Manninger won 33 caps for Austria and played for Arsenal, mainly as a substitute, between 1997 and 2001. He ended his career with Liverpool FC in the 2016–17 season.
In Italy, he played for ACF Fiorentina, Torino FC, Bologna FC 1909, AC Siena, Udinese Calcio and Juventus FC.
Manninger was a Premier League and Serie A champion
He won the Premier League and the FA Cup in 1998 with Arsenal, but also the Serie A with Juventus at the end of the 2011-2012 season.
“Alexander Manninger has been an outstanding ambassador for Austrian football both on and off the pitch,” Austrian Football Association director Peter Schöttel said in a statement.
“Through his international career, he set standards and inspired and trained many young goalkeepers. His professionalism, calmness and reliability made him an important part of his teams as well as the national team,” he added.
