The State Duma has taken the initiative to allow passengers not to pay for travel on public transport if non-cash payment does not work. According to the Saratov 24 TV channel, the proposal is due to frequent interruptions in the operation of the Internet and payment terminals.
The author of the idea is Communist Party member Artem Prokofiev. He recalled that the state has been purposefully reducing the use of cash for a long time. But at the same time, people often cannot get to the right place because payment by card or phone is not available.
The parliamentarian believes that a rule needs to be established at the legislative level: if a passenger is unable to pay for travel due to a technical failure, the carrier is obliged to provide him with this service free of charge.
