Dani Coman, the president of FC Argeș, speaks openly about one of the most controversial situations in Romanian football: the blocking of promotion for CSA Steaua. The former goalkeeper appreciates the work of Daniel Oprița, whom he considers a coach capable of rebuilding the team season after season.
– How do you see the situation at Steaua?
– What Oprița has done in recent years at Steaua is to be appreciated. I also played against him when I was in Sibiu and now in the Second League in Pitesti. I had the hardest matches with them. Why? In each competitive break, 5, 6, 7, 10 players leave. He always created teams. He always brought his players and always had a strategy. His teams play football. And I had the hardest matches with him.
Dani Coman: “It would be nice for Steaua to promote!”
– Is it normal for a team like this not to have the right to promotion?
– It would be nice for the players and for the supporters and for the coaches it would be nice to have the possibility to promote. And from what I know, I think that in the near future they will also have the right to promotion with the changes that are being made in the club.
– Will they find a private partner?
– I have information that they are working and that they will find it.
– The Ministry of Defense says that the brand must remain with the Army.
– Why does someone have to be a majority shareholder? Let them stay. I believe that solutions will be found because it would be a shame for a club and with the stadium they have to not have the opportunity to promote.
I invite any private entity that is thinking of analyzing whether it is concerned about entering into a partnership with the Ministry of Defense to manage the football situation at the club, to send a message by email and in 2-3 days I will participate with these private entities to analyze what are the routes and next steps of interest for the private environment as well
Radu Miruță, Minister of Defense
The minister's plan: “Legislative limitations!”
The Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruță, spoke about the promotion right of the ministry's team, which cannot play in the Super League, being a departmental club.
“I am interested in the following: the sportsman who is good should not have a political decision barrier in front of him. Today, especially at the football club, there is a limitation. Football players, if they manage to play in a championship so that they finish first and go as a reward to Division A, they cannot do it because of a legislative limitation,” said the minister.

“This is an injustice that, no matter who is upset, I do not agree. Which of the methods to remove this barrier,” added the minister to Euronews.
Steaua qualified for the second division play-offs, meaning they could occupy a position that would, in theory, take them to the first division. It has happened before in recent years, without Steaua being able to promote. Its place was taken by the teams ranked immediately below it.
