US President Donald Trump wants the future stadium of the American football team Washington Commanders to bear his name, reports ESPN, taken by Reuters.
ESPN cites a White House source as saying that President Trump has conveyed that desire to the Josh Harris-led club. “That's what the president wants and it's probably going to happen,” the source said.
As a real estate developer, Trump has also put his name on various buildings, hotels, casinos or golf courses, and in addition has sold products labeled with his name, from sports shoes to Bibles.
“It would be a nice name since President Trump made it possible to build a new stadium,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a response to ESPN.
The future stadium to be built in Washington will be covered, and the estimated costs are 3.7 billion dollars. The building will be located on the site of the former RFK Stadium, which was home to the Washington Redskins from 1961-1996. The 65,000-seat stadium is to be inaugurated in 2030.

The Washington Commanders currently play their home games at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.
With the exception of two stadiums, the arenas in which NFL games are played, the American football league, sell the name of the stadium to the corporations that sponsor the teams. A few of them combine the sponsor's name with the original one, such as GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
It's likely that the Commanders will sell the name of the future stadium to a sponsor and make the White House happy with a name like Northwest Field at Trump Stadium.
Trump is expected to attend the Commanders' game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday at the invitation of Josh Harris.
