
According to him, the launches were carried out by units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. The first – to an altitude of more than 100 km, the second – to 204 km, both launches were officially recorded by technical means. These were not experiments, but the implementation of real combat missions, Venislavsky emphasized.
“We have missiles that almost no one knows about, but which are capable of striking enemy territory at a distance of up to 500 km and flying at hypersonic speeds. And we use them successfully. But their main purpose is to carry out extraordinary operations, including those that we just talked about,” the people’s deputy noted.
In addition to these launches, the GUR working group performed another unique task – it launched a launch vehicle from a transport aircraft at an altitude of about 8 km, the people’s deputy indicated.
“This was carried out for the first time on the territory of the European continent and the second time in world history. The United States was the first to do this in the mid-70s. But our withdrawal height is a record,” Venislavsky emphasized.
This system may soon turn into an “air spaceport” that can be used both for peaceful purposes and to counter Russian Oreshnik missiles, the parliamentarian added.
