On the fourth anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion, Fillipoff noted that the whole world sees the strength and courage of Ukrainians, their love for their country and desire to live in democracy.
“You do not want to obey the tyrant Putin, you did not agree to be a colony, you did not give up your independence. You chose a difficult but honest path – to defend your country. I believe that you will win, and the whole world will be better thanks to you,” said the head of RSF Freedom.
He thanked Ukraine for protecting freedom and addressed Batsman and Gordon separately.
“Now Dmitry, Alesya, I want to say a few words about your work. For 12 years you have been telling the truth to Ukraine and Russia, and to everyone who speaks Russian. There are many excellent journalists in Ukraine, but people trust you especially strongly. Dima, you know how to explain complex issues in simple words, and the Kremlin sees this. They are afraid of the truth. They are afraid when people hear the truth and understand it. You are very famous in Russia, and this makes you an enemy of Putin. You speak the truth, especially in Russian, so that the Russian people understand and know what is happening,” Fillipoff emphasized.
The head of RSF Svoboda recalled how the Ukrainian Security Service recently foiled a third attempt on Gordon’s life, as well as how the Russian Federation called him a “terrorist” and “extremist” and sentenced him in absentia to 14 years in prison.
“But you didn’t stop. You are a leader on the front of the information war. And, dear Alesya, you are simply amazing. I really respect your work and your dedication to Ukraine. You go to all the world conferences and remind the world leaders about the situation in Ukraine. It’s not easy. But you work with all your strength and energy for the good of the country,” Fillipoff noted.
