This is how much the most popular cars in Poland lose their value. You bought a new car, get ready for a price drop

Even more than 50 percent and nominally nearly 78 thousand. PLN – this is how much the most popular cars purchased in Poland may lose their value in five years – according to an analysis conducted by “Auto Świat” based on Info-Ekspert data.

The analysis took into account the most popular cars registered by Polish individual customers and sole proprietorships in the first quarter of 2026.
As we wrote last week, the best first quarter in the history of Polish car showrooms is behind us. The largest number of cars in history was also registered by individual customers, who entered 53.4 thousand cars into the database of the Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers. new passenger cars – by 7.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
The top ten most popular models, according to data from the Polish Automotive Industry Association, included only SUVs and crossovers, and these cars were taken into account in the study conducted by Info-Ekspert.
The residual value was analyzed for the most popular engine versions and equipment. It was additionally assumed that the car had traveled 75,000 miles over five years. km, i.e. on average 15 thousand km per year.

The simulation created in this way showed that in the case of the most popular models, the residual value after five years will be from 42 to 52 percent. lower than the initial price. The most popular car among “Kowalskis” in the previous year – Kia Sportage – will lose the least value in the analyzed period (-42.3%).

The residual value will decline slightly more in the case of Dacia Duster and Toyota C-HR. The most popular model in the first quarter of 2026 – Hyundai Tucosn – will “lose” 44.7 percent during this time.
At the other end of the list, clearly standing out from the other models, there were the two most popular “Chinese” models – MG HS and Omoda 5, in the case of which the estimated drop in residual value exceeded 52%.
“Chinese” – according to Info-Ekspert simulation – lose the most value also in nominal terms – 71.6 thousand, respectively. PLN (Omoda 5) and PLN 77.9 thousand PLN (MG HS). Lower by 70 thousand. PLN residual value relative to the initial price was also recorded in the case of the previously mentioned Hyundai Tucson.
Due to the lowest initial prices, the residual value of Dacia Duster and Toyota Aygo X will decrease the least over five years.
