The Polish Filmmakers Association under the microscope. Where did the millions go?

The Ministry of Culture indicates the results of the inspection. The list of expenses includes, among others: alcohol, Lexus and an investigation company. All this under the nose of the president, who collected a lot of money.
“The money that goes to associations such as the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP) must go to the needs of artists in 90 percent. Instead, they went on luxury cars, alcohol and the horrendous remuneration of the president of the SFPwhich, by the way, should fulfill its function socially,” said Maciej Wróbel, Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage in the “Question of the Day” program on TVP Info.

Example? Maciej Wróbel informed that PLN 1.5 million was spent on alcohol. The list is longer. “The association bought a plot of land where they wanted to build a photovoltaic farm. Porsches and Lexuses were bought, so the employees drove quite luxurious cars. At the very end, the president hired an investigative company to check whether what he was doing and the expenses he had committed were legal and what he would face for it.” – said the deputy minister on TVP Info.
Maciej Wróbel revealed that in the years 2020-2024, over PLN 3.7 million went to the account of the president of the SFP.

The main goal of the association is to protect the interests of the film community. Within the SFP structures there is a key unit, ZAPA (Association of Audiovisual Authors and Producers), which deals with collective management of copyrights and the collection and distribution of royalties to filmmakers.
The organization actively supports the development of Polish cinematography by running the Munk Studio, publishing “Film Magazine” and fighting for legal provisions favorable to the industry, including the implementation of European directives regarding Internet royalties.
