“Regime Change Party” How Madyar's comrade-in-arms became a social media star overnight

Hegedüs could not restrain himself and began to energetically dance and jump on stage in Budapest immediately after the speech of Peter Madyar, the leader of the opposition party Tisza, which won the elections.

Hegedyush himself, having learned that he had become a star of social networks, commented on his fiery dances on Facebook on April 13.

“You're standing on stage on election night after the victory. Around you are liberated people, joy, laughter, tears, hugs. You're dancing because it's finally possible. Essentially you're starting a party for regime change]the music plays over and over again in the streets of Budapest. Strangers dance together as if they've always known each other, they're happy, they're hugging,” he wrote.



As Focus notes, Hegedüs danced to a remake of a song from the American Hunger Games trilogy, “The Hanging Tree.”

Context

Parliamentary elections were held in Hungary on April 12. According to the Hungarian Central Election Commission, Tisza representatives won in all 16 constituencies in Budapest. Prime Minister of the country Victor Orban already admitted defeat Fidesz congratulated the opponents on their victory.

Madyar, in his victory speech, said that the Hungarian people “said yes to Europe and a free Hungary” in the elections.
