In Krasnoyarsk, at the KrasKom wastewater treatment plant, a biology lesson was held for Siberian Federal University biotechnological students.

Technologist of the sewage treatment plant Nadezhda Ilyina demonstrated to the masters of the Institute of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology of the Siberian Federal University (SFU) the full cycle of the classical multi-stage technological scheme for wastewater treatment.

Siberian Federal University students were led along the entire path that wastewater passes, ending at the main facility of the right bank water disposal system, starting from primary settling tanks for mechanical treatment and aeration tank bioreactors, where biological treatment occurs using microorganisms, and ending with an ultraviolet disinfection station for already purified water before its return to the Yenisei.

As students noted, familiarity with the principles of wastewater treatment was very useful. After all, after graduating from a university, their first place of work may be the laboratory of wastewater treatment facilities, where they can come to study the composition of activated sludge from aerate tanks and personally monitor the quality of wastewater treatment.

“A cooperation agreement has been concluded between our enterprise and the Siberian Federal University. Students of specialized departments undergo educational practice with us, and shop managers are included in the examination committees for the defense of diploma projects. We provide jobs for graduates of Siberian Federal University, Siberian State University of Science and Technology named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev, other higher and secondary educational institutions of Krasnoyarsk. Today KrasKom employs more than 300 young specialists under the age of 35. In addition to a stable operating enterprise, we offer young people interesting engineering tasks and opportunities for career growth,” said KrasKom General Director Oleg Goncherov.
