Trump called a “red line” regarding Iran

“We've missed the mark on an important issue. They want nuclear weapons. They won't have nuclear weapons. I've been saying that for 30 years. I'll never let that happen. Before I got into politics, I said this country wouldn't have nuclear weapons. Most countries shouldn't have them, and this country won't have them,” Trump said.

According to him, there were “very intensive negotiations” between the countries, which towards the end became “very friendly”. Trump noted that the United States has received almost all the necessary points of the peace plan, with the exception that Iran does not want to give up its nuclear ambitions. “Honestly, that was the most important point for me,” he said.

Context

Iran on negotiations voiced his basic requirements. Among them, as the AP wrote, are compensation for damage from US-Israeli strikes, unfreezing Iranian assets, creating a mechanism to open the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a “tangible and permanent ceasefire” not only in Iran, but also in other tension zones in the region where its alliances are present.

After this, US President Donald Trump announced the start of “clearing” the Strait of Hormuz.
