An AUR MP died on Easter. “We'll be poorer without him”

Dan Artimon, deputy of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party, died on Sunday, at the age of 59.

The announcement was made Sunday evening in a Facebook post by AUR leader George Simion.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of AUR MP and my friend, Dan Artimon. We will be poorer without him, the wisest of us,” wrote Simion.

The death of the deputy from Arad, at the age of 59, on Easter day, was also announced by the local press, which describes him as “a great fighter for Arad for many years”, according to the publication Glasul Aradului.

Dan Cătălin Artimon, born on June 17, 1966, in Arad, was elected deputy in the December 2024 parliamentary elections, in the Arad constituency, from the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) party.

In Parliament, he was a member of the Committee for Human Rights, Religions and National Minority Issues in the Chamber of Deputies.

Before becoming a deputy, Artimon was a county councilor in the Arad County Council, having been elected to this position a few months before, in the local elections of June 2024.

From 2005 to 2010, he was president of the non-governmental association Arad-ID.
