The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) wrote that the famous American journalist Anna Louise Strong came to Birobidzhan to get acquainted with the life, construction and work of the Jewish Autonomous Region.
Anna Louise Strong is the author of many books about the Soviet Union, deputy editor of the English newspaper “Moscow Daily News” (18+), which is published in Moscow.
The same newspaper reported that the group of artists of the State Theater of the Jewish Autonomous Region went on a long tour along the route: Smidovich – Bira – Birakan – Londoko – Obluchye to provide cultural services to the population.

The newspaper informs its readers that a meeting of projectionists and workers of stationary and mobile film installations was held in Birobidzhan. At the meeting, they discussed the state of film production in the region and developed measures to expand and improve the operation of film installations.
The newspaper reports that the Birobidzhan City Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) held a meeting of heads of enterprises, trading organizations, party organizers and representatives of trade unions on the issue of preparations for the May Day celebration.

The newspaper “Birobidzhanskaya Zvezda” published a message that a sausage factory of the regional branch of “Myasotrest” began operating in Birobidzhan.

“The new factory produces 700-800 kilograms of seven varieties of sausages per day; in addition, it will produce smoked meats (brisket, ham), boil and fry cattle tongues, etc. For the convenience of consumers, all these dishes will be sold in a store opening in the market square. All the factory’s products are produced by qualified craftsmen who have completed special courses in sausage production…”

The newspaper “MIG” (12+) on April 11, 2013 reported that a cross would be erected on the DSM hill in honor of the Cossack pioneers. This initiative was put forward by the Middle Amur District Cossack Society.
The monument will bear a commemorative inscription: “In honor of the Cossack pioneers who developed the territory of the modern Jewish Autonomous Region before its formation.”

The same newspaper wrote that deputies of the regional parliament had prepared an appeal to the Birobidzhan mayor's office with a request to perpetuate the memory of David Fuksan, the former chief manager of the Birobidzhantselinstroy trust and the former chief economist of the Dalselmash association, Mikhail Gomon.
David Semenovich Fuksman went down in the history of the Jewish Autonomous Region as a person under whose leadership the most important objects of agricultural, industrial and socio-cultural significance were erected. Among them are the workshops of Dalselmash and the Birobidzhan Power Transformer Plant, livestock complexes in the autonomous regions, the buildings of the current House of Justice, the Center for Children's Creativity, residential buildings and many other objects.
One of the most famous objects of David Fuchsman was the Yubileiny sanatorium in the village of Pronkino. Under the roof of this building today there is a children's health camp “Scarlet Sails”, where various conferences, meetings, competitions, subject Olympiads for schoolchildren and other events are held. Foreign delegations also visit this health center, built in the bosom of Far Eastern nature.
David Semyonovich, without loud words or slogans, as the head of the construction department, solved complex problems of capital construction in Birobidzhan. He made bold, extraordinary decisions at risk to his career. David Semyonovich died in 2008.
Mikhail Efimovich Gomon worked for 30 years at the Dalselmash plant, including as deputy director for economics. Mikhail was a true innovator, he had many ideas for the development of production, and he was also at the origins of the creation of the Dalselmash history museum. Mikhail Gomon was the permanent chairman of the State Examination Commission of the Birobidzhan branch of the Khabarovsk Mechanical College.
Mikhail Efimovich was a very versatile person; he was one of the most prominent lecturers of the Knowledge Society, famous in Soviet times. For his successful work there, he was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR. Mikhail Efimovich died in 2012; a memorial plaque was installed on the house where he lived.
