A well-known non-food discounter wants to open up to 400 stores

The company reported that last year net sales amounted to EUR 16 billion in 2025 (an increase of 14%).
At the same time, an increase in comparable sales (like-for-like) was 4.9 percent Over the past year, 384 new Action stores were opened, which gave 3,302 locations in 14 countries at the end of the year, the company also said in a statement. It was added that the chain currently employs over 84,000. employees.
Now the development of this network of “non-food discount stores” is expected to accelerate even further. In 2026, Action plans to open at least 400 new stores and enter two new markets – Croatian and Slovenia. The company is also to open three new distribution centers in 2026, which will be located in Italy, Spain and France.
But that's not the end. The company is looking beyond Europe.
Action is scheduled to enter the United States
Looking ahead to 2027, the company announced its intention to continue its growth in Europe by entering its 17th market – Bulgaria – we read.
The chain added that it has also completed an in-depth market study in the United States, which showed clear potential for its business model – also stated in the announcement.
The company aims to open its first U.S. store in the Southeast by late 2027 or early 2028.
“The company's ambition is to open 100 stores in this market by the end of 2030. As part of the preparations, Action is currently creating an organization in the United States, combining local expertise with the experience of Action leaders,” we read.
